Parable of the Woman and the Taxi Driver

A taxi driver is on his way home trying to make a light before it turns yellow. His fare light is off and his engine is revved. A woman on the street is desperate for a taxi so she steps out in front of him to make him stop. The taxi driver honks his horn, and waves for the woman to get out of the way. He's sure that she'll see that his fare light is off. She does but thinks maybe he'll give her a ride anyway. She's sure that he'll stop for her. At the last minute the driver realizes the woman is not going to move and hits his brakes. The woman also realizes the driver isn't going to stop and jumps back to the curb. They are too late. The taxi knocks the woman to the curb. Both of them are shocked. He then stops to help her. Her injuries aren't life threatening and the taxi's fender is only a little dented. Later on, having been assured by her family and friends that she was wronged, the woman sues the taxi driver. The settlement pays for some of her medical bills. The taxi driver's fender is still dented.
