A few weeks ago on California and Polk he dispensed some sage advice to me on how to tell a woman you love her, and also advised that a man should always walk between a lady and the cars on the sidewalk. Tonight as I passed him on the sidewalk on Larkin between Sutter and Post he insisted that when playing the piano or guitar one should keep their fingers as close to the keys or fret board as possible. When I told him I was learning the violin he started to pontificate about inverting tonalities or something. There seems to be no end to his wisdom or at least the sentences he uses when giving it. I can't wait to hear what advice he has to give me next.
